Licensing FAQ

Everything you need to know about MISTERSCALPER licensing

🔑 License Basics

What is IP-based licensing?

Your license is tied to IP addresses, not MT5 account numbers. You can use the EA on unlimited MT5 accounts as long as they're running from your authorized IP addresses.

How many IP addresses can I use?

Most licenses include 2 IP addresses. Perfect for:

  • Home computer + VPS
  • Office + Home
  • 2 different VPS providers
Can I use unlimited MT5 accounts?

Yes! As long as they're running from your authorized IP addresses. Use on:

  • Multiple live accounts
  • Demo accounts
  • Different brokers
  • All from the same IP(s)
What if I have more than 2 locations?

You can purchase a license with more IP addresses (3, 5, or unlimited). Contact sales for pricing.

Can I share my license with a friend?

No. Each license is for personal use only. Licenses are monitored for unusual activity and unauthorized sharing may result in revocation.

🚀 Installation & Setup

How do I install the EA?

3 simple steps:

  1. Copy files to MT5 folders (Include + Experts)
  2. Enable WebRequest for your license server
  3. Enter license key in EA settings

See INSTALLATION-INSTRUCTIONS.md for detailed steps.

What is WebRequest and why do I need it?

WebRequest allows the EA to contact the license server to validate your license. Without it enabled, the EA cannot verify your license and won't start.

Enable it: Tools → Options → Expert Advisors → Allow WebRequest
I enabled WebRequest but EA still won't start

Make sure you added the exact license server URL:

  • Check spelling: https://misterscalper.com (not .net or .org)
  • Include https:// prefix
  • No trailing slash
  • Restart MT5 after enabling
Where do I find my license key?

Your license key was sent in your purchase confirmation email. It looks like:

MS-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX

⚙️ Operation & Validation

How often does the EA validate my license?

Every 24 hours automatically. You don't need to do anything - it happens in the background.

Does the EA need internet all the time?

The EA needs internet for:

  • Initial activation (first time)
  • Periodic validation (every 24 hours)
  • After 7 days without validation, it will stop

It does NOT need constant internet - just periodic checks.

What is the "grace period"?

If the license server is temporarily unreachable (internet down, server maintenance), the EA continues working for 7 days using cached validation. This ensures you're not interrupted by temporary issues.

Will the EA stop in the middle of a trade?

No. License validation happens in the background. If validation fails, the EA:

  1. Completes current trades
  2. Displays an error message
  3. Stops opening new trades
  4. Removes itself from chart

Your existing positions are not affected.

🌐 IP Address Questions

What is an IP address?

An IP address is your internet connection's unique identifier. Think of it like your computer's phone number. When you connect to the internet from home, you get one IP. When you connect from a VPS, you get a different IP.

How do I know what my IP address is?
My IP address keeps changing - what do I do?

If you have dynamic IP at home:

  • Option 1: Purchase license with more IPs (3-5 recommended)
  • Option 2: Use the EA only from your VPS (static IP)
  • Option 3: Contact your ISP for a static IP
Can I see which IPs are bound to my license?

Contact support with your license key and we can check for you.

I changed VPS providers - how do I update my IP?

Contact support with:

  • Your license key
  • Old VPS IP (if known)

We'll unbind the old IP so your new VPS can connect. Usually processed within 24 hours.

I'm using a VPN - will this cause issues?

Yes, VPNs can cause problems:

  • VPN changes your IP address
  • Each VPN server = different IP
  • You'll quickly use up all your IP slots
Solution: Don't use VPN when running the EA, or purchase unlimited IP license.
